Overall Festival Satisfaction
Feedback & Answers

The inability to hear the announcer/emcee from the athlete's village or tents was the most frequent complaint due to the venue's size.
Due to a delayed start in the audio installation, the festival was without sound for the first hour and a half. Additionally, the equipment provided was insufficient to cover the athlete’s village. For next year, we will require that all audio equipment be installed and tested the day prior to ensure full coverage across all areas.

The most critical feedback related to the lack of/poor lane markers (buoys) and the course's location.
Due to water conditions at Bar Beach, we were unable to install additional buoys. Tide fluctuations of up to eight feet caused the buoys placed the night before to shift out of position. On the morning of the event, the race course had to be reset, and only a minimal number of buoys were left in place since the course needed to be adjusted between each race. Installing more than three sets would have created further delays. Unfortunately, the water conditions at this location—particularly in the later months—are beyond our control. If we are to move the festival to the summer, we anticipate some improvement during the warmer months when the tide fluctuations are less severe.

The food and merchant vendor areas were noted as being "tight" and "crowded."
We were pleasantly surprised by the strong turnout for our first-year festival. Looking ahead to next year, there is ample space to expand eastward, which will allow us to accommodate additional food and merchandise vendors.

Minor points included some communication confusion (too many messages).
We had over 120 volunteers registered for the festival. Although volunteers checked in, we were unable to effectively manage the large number, as all OPA members were fully engaged with event operations. For next year, we plan to organize volunteers into smaller groups, each led by a designated OPA member. This structure will allow for more efficient coordination and oversight.
What did you like about the event?
“As one of the athletes, I appreciate how things were a little behind for the first race and you guys pushed to make sure the rest of it was back on schedule or even earlier. That is so rare for an event like this! Also the results were up almost instantly.”
“Everyone at OPA is super friendly & helpful; you guys really made us feel part of your ohana.”
